  Haapasaari was until 1973 Finland's smallest independent municipality. In
  that year, Haapasaari attached to Kotka. The island has still an old
  muncipal hall, it´s now a private home.

  Guest Boat Quay is located in the shore of the church, at Kylänlahti. The
  island has a fuel distribution point, a public telephone, store and post
  office. 

  At school building is in the summer art camps and exhibitions, at the building next to school is the island's history museum. The school
  is near the year 1858 built church. Church is now part of the Kotka church, in the summer the church is a popular baptism and wedding
  church.

  Haapasaari co-operative shop is it´s own attraction, vibrant... and Finlands smallest. The island has Pro Patria monument, which is
  erected to a memory of mine-clearance personnel. 

  At Haapasaari operates the coast guard station, where travelers can do the passport and Customs inspection.

  One attraction is Puikkarikuuri, where is festival called "Puikkaripäivät" each July, the third weekend.
