Hamnskär is a small outer island, located about 25 kilometers south of Loviisa.
  The island is a popular bird monitoring place especially in spring and autumn time.

  As well as a wonderfull nature, there is a memorial of the sunken German
  submarine UC37.

  The memorial tells the submarine's fate: "The November 17th - 1917 at twilight
  arrived to Hamnskär German submarine UC57, bringing to Finland war needs.
  With the submarine came Prussian jaeger battalion of the 27's men (the list of
  men's names). Men took part in Finland's freedom war."

  "Early in the morning the November 18th, 1917 went UC-57 return trip to
  Germany, but it never arrived. Underwater crew (the list of Crew
  members)... To those German men´s memory, who first sacrificed their lives in
  Finland's independence, this granite statue rises to telling us about the great
  period of Finland´s history, and after advice future generations to keep inviolate
  the freedom afforded."
